The Best of The Canyon: Lees Ferry to Bar 10 Ranch

The Grand Tradition: Lees Ferry to Diamond Creek

On our 14 or 16-Day Oar Expeditions, your journey will take you 225 miles through the Grand Canyon, from Lees Ferry to Diamond Creek. Leave your watch behind and the details to us. Your trip is not measured in hours and minutes, only sun up until sun down. Your only schedule is to arrive at Diamond Creek the morning of the last day of your expedition. So relax, and enjoy the grandeur of the Grand Canyon.

The Upper Canyon: Lee’s Ferry to Phantom Ranch

88 River Miles
3 1/2 Day Motorized Trips
5 1/2 Day Oar Trip

On this 3 1/2 Day Motor or 5 1/2 Day Oar Expedition your journey will take you 88 miles from Lees Ferry to Phantom Ranch (deep within the Grand Canyon). Your only schedule is to arrive at the take-out destination the morning of the last day—so relax and enjoy the grandeur of the upper canyon with its geological changes as the canyon walls rise above the river to heights of 5000 feet.

The Lower Canyon: Phantom Ranch to Bar 10 Ranch

100 River Miles
6 1/2 Day Oar trip
4 1/2 Day Motorized Trip

On this 4 1/2 Day Motor Expedition or 6 1/2 Day Oar Expedition your journey will take you 100 miles from Phantom Ranch (deep within the Grand Canyon) to Whitmore Wash. Your only schedule is to arrive at the take-out destination the morning of the last day—so relax and enjoy the grandeur of the lower canyon, with its high sheer walls and spectacular white water of major rapids and smooth relaxing calm water.

Hiking Guidelines

IMPORTANT NOTE: We strongly recommend that all hikers be in excellent physical condition and be able to hike 10 miles.

A qualified hiking guide will meet everyone and guide the hike down to our boats at the river.
Be certain to have food for the hike (a deli type sandwich and at least two power bars, crackers and cheese and oranges) Make your food purchases the night prior to the hike.
Two quarts of electrolyte supplement drink should be considered essential, along with a carrying capacity for at least three quarts of water.

Adjustable walking sticks are a smart carry, especially for participants over 40 or for anyone with a prior knee, ankle or hip history. Ace Wraps are also required for prior injuries.
Relief from inflammation and pain should be in everyone’s back pocket.
We also recommend trimming of toenails prior to hike to help alleviate possible damage to the nails due to down hill hiking.
Wear a hat.

ONE TRIP A YEAR RULE

Please, One Trip Per Year. Due to limited availability, the National Park Service restricts recreational boating opportunities on the Colorado River within Grand Canyon National Park to one trip per year per individual. Because of this regulation, Wilderness River Adventures cannot accept a reservation from any individual who has or will participate in any other full or partial canyon commercial or non-commercial river trip within the same calendar year. If you have already completed or have plans to participate in any other Grand Canyon river trip this year and would like to go again, please wait until next year or sometime thereafter to book your next trip. Grand Canyon National Park's one-trip-per-year rule is strictly enforced.
